Born in May of 1972, in Toronto Canada. Since an early age Mark has always been a creative person, truly enjoying the arts, theatre, dance, (watching not doing) singing, music, movies, television. In his public school years Mark would gather friends from the neighborhood and put together plays in his basement; one was actually praised by the school's theatrical teacher and performed for a grade four class, it was a 'toy story' of sorts. He also enjoyed creating, writing and telling stories of fiction.
In highschool, Stephen Leacock, Mark's favorite classes included Art and English Media, a class where he got to analze movies and books. This was where he fell in love with his first piece of written literture, The Catchher in the Rye by JD Salanger.
After high school Mark attended George Brown College where he went through a Graphic Design program. But upon his graduation he fell short of the computer era and had difficulty finding work without proficient skills in Photoshop and the like. He began volunteering, which soon turned into a full time job, at the historical Red Barn Theatre. This was Canada's oldest Professional Summerstock theatre before it succumbed to a fire in April of 2009. Mark Started at the theatre in 1993 and worked there, backstage, for 8 years. Everything from assistant stage managing to production to set completion and decoration. One of Mark's jobs included following along on script during rehersal's and reading through many plays his interest for the written word was rekindled.
Mark wrote a play titled "When I Fall In Love" about alcoholism and the affects of it. He was told, after showing it to some professional work collegues, that the story line was good as well as the character development in it. So he then decided to further enhance his skills by taking a Creative Writing Program through the Straford Career Institute. Graduating with highest honours Mark began dabbling in short stories and generating other ideas. It took a while but his first book Chronicles of a Girl was published in 2007 in cooperation with Toucan Publishing, but because of unforeseen delays it wasn't "officially" released until 2009. He has completed a second book, (a sequel) due to be released in fall 2011 in partnership with iUniverse; and he is working on a third to finish up a trilogy.
Support from family and friends is where his inspiration to write begins
